John Westbrooks

Passed On: September 29, 2022

ASTON John K. Westbrooks passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, in St. Luke's Hospital- Anderson Campus from Covid-19. He was 75 years old. John was born in Wilson Borough, PA to the late John L Westbrooks and Ora E. (Piell) Westbrooks. John grew up in the Revere and Kintnersville area of Bucks County. In his teens his family moved to Easton where he met his beloved wife, Becky. They were married for 52 years before her passing on September 24, 2018. John graduated from Easton Area High School in 1965. Shortly after he joined the US Navy and served as a Seabee attached to the MCB1 Battalion out of Davisville, Rhode Island from 1966-1969 during the Vietnam War. John was an accomplished carpenter, a field he worked in all his life and then as a draftsman in his later years. He began his career after high school working for Charlie Odenwelder. He worked for many years building houses both under his own company and for local developers. He later worked for Gross & Quade Construction in Souderton as a Site Superintendent. He moved on to working as a draftsman for Shelly Lumber and Dykes Lumber. Before retiring John worked for Hissim Woodworking in Riegelsville. In his spare time, John enjoyed spending time with his family and dogs. He loved fishing and working on his boat. He especially enjoyed his vacations to Cape Hatteras surf fishing off the beach. John was a NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. He was also a fan of the Phillies and Eagles. In his later years, John enjoyed spending time with his Raubsville neighbors and friends. He was a member of Trout Unlimited. John is survived by his daughter, Lori Seese (Robert) of Wilson Borough; sons, Joel Westbrooks (Tamme) of Williams Twsp, and Josh Westbrooks (Tonja) of Waxhaw, NC; grandchildren, April Seese, Bobbie Jo Porter (Kevin), Natasha Neel (Ryan), Tucker Seese and Brady Westbrooks; great-grandson, Eren Neel; brothers, Wayne Westbrooks (Terry) of Rural Hall, NC and Terry Westbrooks of Conway, MO; and his rescue dog, Meggie. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Darlene Murphree and a grandson, William Westbrooks. Services will be held at 10am Saturday, October 8th in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough. Call Saturday, October 8th 9-10am in the funeral home.
