John Kriel

John R. Kriel Jr., 65 , of 357 Bridge St., Lehighton, passed away on Monday, April 29, in his residence. Prior to retiring, he was an electrician for various companies in the Greater Lehigh Valley and Carbon County. Born in Easton, he was a son of the late John R. Sr. and Dorothy (Smith) Kriel. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having attained the rank of Spc. 4. He was of the Christian faith. Kriel was an active member of American Legion Post 314, Lehighton, where he was a member of the Vietnam Last Man's Club, served as chairman of the House Committee, was treasurer of the Home Association, and was the Post historian. Surviving are two sons, Randy S., and his companion, Bonita Rotert, and her children, Avery and Riley, and Ryan S., both of Carroll, Iowa; a daughter Renee S. Kriel, and her companion, Kelly Battle, of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister Joan, wife of Al Hendershot of Pen Argyl; and two grandchildren, Justice and Alexia Jackson.
