CAROL STEELY OBITUARY PALMER TOWNSHIP Carol A. Steely, 74, of Palmer Township, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 21, 1947, in Easton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Estella (Snyder) Crandell. Her husband of 48 years, Harry F. Steely, Jr., passed away July 7, 2017. Carol was a 1965 graduate of Easton Area High School and a 1969 graduate of Millersville University where she received a B.S. in early childhood education. She owned and operated Carol Steelys Group Daycare Home since February 1981. She had been an adjunct professor at Lehigh County Community College and Northampton Community College. Carol loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, interior design and being a caregiver for countless children throughout her life. She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Years ago, she was president and active in the former Lehigh Valley Childcare Association working with legislators on child welfare related laws. Surviving are four daughters, Staci Forsythe and Cathy Garces and her husband Mike, both of Palmer Township, and Rebecca Mariconda and her husband Joe, and Liz Gimbar and her husband John, both of Wilson Borough; two sisters, Janet Grube and her husband Dennis, of Palmer Township, and Jane Matyger and her husband Allan, of Newark, DE; a brother, Kenny Snyder, Sr., of Easton; nine grandchildren, Vincent, Courtney, Kaylee, Gabi, Madelin, Brayden, Logan, Evan and Tyler; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Frances Snyder. Services will be held at 10:30am Tuesday in the St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 3900 Freemansburg Ave., Palmer Township. Call Monday 5-8pm in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton St., Wilson Borough. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine. Offer online condolences at www.strunkfh.com.
